A Little Bit of Everything Haul

Hi guys!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Last week I went a tad crazy and bought a ton of stuff that I’d been eyeing for a while now. I guess that means that this week I have to take it easy, but I’m super excited about the things that I picked up!
The first place that I went to was Walgreens.

I went there pretty much in search of the Milani blushes and the eyebrow kit. And Great Lash's clear mascara. And I walked out with the Batiste Dry Shampoo in the Blush scent. Unfortunately, the brow kit was a bust. The colors are just too light for my brows (even the darker color which I thought would be waaay too dark just sticks out like a sore thumb on my face). However, the other three all work really well. The plus is pigmented and the perfect glowing color. It's not nearly as peachy/pinky as I thought it would be. The clear mascara is just awesome in helping my brows cooperate. And the dry shampoo is AMAZING. I am definitely buying the full size eventually.

Then I went to Bath and Body Works, which is always my complete downfall. I was there to buy a gift and wound up getting a few extras for me. I bought 4 Wallflower bulbs because I've come to love Market Peach, so I definitely wanted to pick that up. It smells so strong and amazing! Then I got the Limoncello from the new Italy collection. I haven't tried to the Wallflowers yet, but the candle is pretty much my new favorite thing ever.
If you guys saw my What I'm Loving Wednesday post, you saw that I posted this bag from Lizard Thicket.

Well, I bought this amazing chevron tank from there. I can't tell you how much I love this top. I got so compliments on it and it's seriously the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Plus it shipped so fast, came wrapped up in this cute reusable bag, and was exactly what I thought it'd be! I totally recommend this boutique!
Another thing I'd been eyeing constantly was this little mist from Victoria's Secret Pink in Sweet and Flirty. This smells so good! It's sweet and fruity and just perfect for spring and summer! I seriously can't get enough of this amazing scent!

Another thing that I’d been dying to get my hands on was the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. Now, this kind of comes as a surprise because for the longest time I thought this palette would be a total waste of money. I mean, there’s nothing really unique about it. And it’s $27, which is kinda steep. However, I’ve seen some really nice Youtube tutorials using this, and I had enough Ulta rewards points to knock off about $8, which really told me that I should get it. Plus Ulta was running a special where if you purchased $30 worth of Urban Decay stuff you got a sample size of the All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray (honestly, I have no clue why she gave it to me, but I got it, so I’m super happy). So far I’m in love with this palette by the way!
Going back into clothes...

I picked up this tank at a little local boutqiue and instantly fell in complete love with it. First of all, the tag as an adorable bow on it. Second, it's a kind of minty color that is so popular right now that I'm completely obsessed with. And it has lace. It is so incredibly pretty I can't stand it.
Continuing with the whole clothes trend, I ordered these bow tanks from Forever 21. Now, I'm not a huge fan of Forever 21. In fact, these are the only things I've ever purchased from there. And both have little things wrong with the. The sizes are always completely weird I've found. But I'm determined to make them work because they are both so cute!

The top shirt is a plain white tank with the most adorable bow on it. Althought he picture doesn't show it, it has little black rhinestones that make it sparkly too. I love it so much, but the hi-low hem line isn't my favorite because the low back is waaay too low for little 4 foot 11 me. It's actually pretty bad. But I'll figure something out.

Likewise, this tank has tiny little black bowties all on it. The interesting thing is that these bows are actually velveteen. This is cute as well, but it is completely sheer and a little bigger than I thought it would be. But once agian, I love the bows and I'll find a way to make them work.
Finally, the last two things I picked up are from American Eagle, which has been really impressing me lately. They have had such adorable tops, dresses, scarves, and pretty much everything you can imagine.
The reason why I went there was for this super cute tank top. I fell in love with it online with the metallic arrow design, the flowy fit, and the zipper detail on the back. Making it even better, I had a 20% coupon I got in email, so I knew it was meant to be.

Here's a closer look at the adorable design. I just love it so much!

And because everything in the store was buy one get one half off, I decided to get another one in a different color. For somer reason this one looks really orange, but it is more coral in person. It too had the zipper in the back. And in the end, I got this shirt for pretty much $5 after the sale and coupon. Not bad.
So that pretty much sums up the entire haul. It had a lot of clothes in it, which is exciting since it's finally warming up around here.
Have you been shopping recently?

So I Need a Little Bit of Help...

With my bedding choices.

If you know me, I’m incredibly indecisive. Especially when it comes to bedding. And even more so when it comes to finally deciding if I’m going to have bedding that has red in it or yellow (for reasons that would take too long to explain, I’m not a fan of red and yellow togetherit instantly makes me think of McDonald’s).

So I need some help.

You know how I was planning on doing the chevron duvet in black and white from Urban Outfitters with pops of red?

Well, then I saw this comforter (at Walmart of all places), and was instantly drawn to it. The cool thing about this on (besides being about $150 cheaper), is that I could still use a black and white chevron in throw pillow and other details around the room).

Which would you pick?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hi guys!
I thought I’d write a little post about some things that I really love today! They are all pretty random, but they all have in common that fact that I can’t get enough of them!

The first thing that I'm loving are these adorable gifts from my littles! Monday served as big appreciation for our sorority and I wasn't even expecting gifts! It seriously never even crossed my mind! But my littles are absolutely amazing and surprised me with two adorable presents! I absolutely love the frame (I'm loving that mint/aqua color, so this made my day...plus it's the perfect picture of all three of us!). And my other little surprised me with this beautiful sorority bracelet! I can't believe how pretty it is! Plus it's adjustable, so it can fit my tiny wrists!

The next thing I can't get enough of are blueberries! I'm absolutely obsessed with them! I have been for about the last month! What's strange is the fact that I honestly couldn't stand them before. They were't sweet enough, I didn't even like them when they were sorta sweet. I never went out of my way to eat them. But now, I can make an entire meal out of them! So good! I even packed them up in a little bag to take to class with me!

I can't get enough of this Covergirl nail polish in Peaches and Cream (number 125 since they don't label their packaging). It's funny because I wasn't expecting to fall so madly in love with it! But here I am, admiring my nails about every two seconds! So pretty and perfect for spring!

Speaking of spring, it's finally sorta of spring-ish around these parts! I mean, it did snow like crazy two days ago, but it's all melted now and 60 degrees feels amazing! I even got to wear a new tank top I bought like a month ago (I know! The weather has been preventing me from wearing this guy!) from American Eagle. I love it so much. First of all, it has lace detailing. Second it's the perfect ivory/off-white cream color ever. Second, it's flowy in all the right ways. Third, it has the high-low hemline, which I can't get enough of currently. It's absolutely perfect! Thankfully I also bought it in a coral color, so I can enjoy it all the time!

I'm also madly in love with Phiillip Phillip's song "Gone, Gone, Gone." Oh my gosh I love this song! I have easily listened to it as least 100 times just today alone. I love it. Plus the music video is so cute! The lyrics are adorable and all lovey dovey. And he has an amazing voice. And he's pretty attractive as well. I love it!
Lastly, who doesn't love getting packages in the mail? I got a shirt I had been expecting form Lizard Thicket Boutique and couldn't be more in love with the top and the little packaging details! Hopefully you'll see what lovely little thing I got in a haul post coming soon, but here's a look at the packaging. It came in this adorable reusable back, and in tissue paper! How cute?!? I know I'm definitely going to order again from them soon!

What are you loving this Wednesday?

April Lusts

Hi guys!

It’s time again to take a look at things that I’m currently eyeing. It’s always interesting to see how my wants change over the course of a month. 1.

1. Essie First Timer
I saw this color recently on Youtube and decided that it looks super fun and pretty for spring and summer. It's a sort of like turquoise mixed with mint. Hopefully I can find this!
2. Vera Bradley Euro Wallet in Go Wild
As you know from last month, I've had my eye on a new wallet, hopefully in the really fun print Go Wild. I love the subtle leopard print! I decided I wanted this wallet because it is compact enough to fit inside the mini hipster. But let me know if I should match the print to the purse, or switch it up and have two different prints going on.
3. Vera Bradley Mini Hipster in Go Wild
This looks like the perfect summer purse. Hopefully I can fit all my stuff in it.
4. Forever 21 Bow Tank
I've been eyeing this tank for what seems like forever! I think it looks adorable! Plus I totally have an obsession for bows right now!
5. Monogrammed Bow Phone Case
This case contains two things that I love: bows and monograms! Isn't it cute? Plus, the price is really good!
6. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
So when I first saw this palette I wasn't impressed. It's pretty much the most boring palette that's ever existed. But right now I'm really interested in neutral, natural looks with my eyeshadow, so this seems perfect. Plus I need to use my Ulta rewards points, so I could get at least $8 off of this.
7. Vera Bradley Drawer Organizer
Recently I came up with what seems like the most ingenious idead ever: using a drawer organizer for pretty and functional makeup storage! And of course it would be perfect with this one from Vera Bradley! (Nate Berkus at Target also has the cutest little yellow one too for $18 less...)

I think that pretty much sums up everything I've been lusting over this month so far. What things have caught your eye? I know I'm currently obsessed with cute tank tops! Even though the weather in Colorado is anything but springy...

Happy Birthday to a Special Someone!

Hi guys!

I wanted to write a quick post wishing my amazing boyfriend happy birthday! Although he brushes it off as if it’s not a big deal, I want him to know how much he means to me and how I hope he has the best day ever. A few days ago we celebrated together and it was seriously the best time ever. We laughed. We hugged. We kissed. We played. We ate a really yummy lunch at Chick-Fi-La and dinner at Ruby Tuesday. And he even recreated the scene from The Notebook where they lay in the middle of the street and stare up at the stars (at first I thought he was crazy. Then he was like, “Remember? The Notebook?” And I just about died because I have a boyfriend that remembers that movie better than me). He’s the best. And I hope he has the best birthday ever. I love him so much.
Happy Birthday to the best boyfriend a girl could ever ask for <3 :)

Little Birdies

Hey everyone!

For Easter, my mom totally surprised me by buying this little birdie tray for me. About a week or two before, I saw it with her at World Market and told her how it would be absolutely amazing at displaying and corralling my perfume bottles on top of my dresser. I was so surprised when I got in my Easter bag!

It’s so cute and because I love my perfume, I thought it was a great way to make my dresser look cute and happy! Plus those little birds are so cute!

A Trip to Ulta

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I went to Ulta for a sample of the Macadamia hair mask that I’ve been lusting over for pretty much forever. However, I didn’t just walk out of there with the sample.

I picked up some spring nail polishes from London Butter (these are the first from that brand I’ve ever bought, so hopefully they are as nice as everyone one says they are).

Fiver and Trout Pout

And I randomly picked up a travel size of Urban Decay’s De-Slick makeup setting spray. Hey, it was at the checkout and my face was oily. So I'd say I had a successful shopping trip. And I'll let you know what I think of the nail polish, the mask, and the Urban Decay De-Slick.

I Heart Spring!

1. Favorite spring nail polish?

My favorite spring nail polish to this point would probably have to be Essie’s Cute as a Button or Mint Candy Apple. Cute as a Button is just a really pretty pinky coral color and of course Mint Candy Apple is the perfect light mint green.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
Seeing as how I really don’t wear lip color any season, nothing changes in the spring. But when it comes to lip products, I have been loving the Nivea Lip Butters (in Vanilla Macadamia and Carmel Kiss-which is just like Kettle Corn!). Not only do they smell so sweet and yummy, but they really moisturize my lips (which are still chapped like they are during the winter).

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!

I absolutely love spring dresses! They have been my favorite thing since I was little! If it has lace, chevron, or a pretty floral, I’m all in! But right now I’m obsessed with my newest lace dress from Macy’s! It’s a corally-orange and super pretty!

4. What's your favorite flower?

I absolutely love flowers. My favorite spring flower is of course, daffodils. They actually are my favorite flower just in general. When it’s not spring, I love sunflowers, mums, roses, poppies, and daisies!

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?

American Eagle Aztec Scarf

Lilly Pulitzer

Vera Bradley Go Wild scarf
As far as accessories go, my favorite for all seasons are my pearl earrings that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas. I have worn them every single day since he gave me them! I also love flip-flops for spring accessories! As far as scarves go, I love my Lilly Pulitzer scarf, Vera Bradley scarf in Go Wild my mom gave me for Valentine’s Day, and this new one from American Eagle I recently picked up. I just love scarves.
6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

I think I’m always just excited for scarves and floral print. I’m really liking the lace and vintage looking florals.

7. Favorite spring candle?
First Bloom

My favorite spring candle has probably been First Bloom! It’s super flowery and very strong! I also love using my Lilac Wallflower up at school! Nothing signifies spring to me like lilacs.

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
Country Chic Perfume

Country Chic is always my go-to scent, especially for spring and summer! I use the body wash and the perfume. I’ve also been loving my Marc Jacob’s Daisy, which is just a pretty floral for spring as well. And recently, I’ve been really loving Pink Chiffon from Bath and Body Works for a sweet, floral type scent.

9. What is spring like where you live?

See how bipolar it is? Ugh.
In Colorado, spring is kind of non-existent. We can get sizable snowstorms all the way until late May. This year we’ve had a few nice days sprinkled in with the really windy, 40-50 degree weather we normally have, with the chance of snow looming constantly.

10. What's your favorite thing about spring?

I like that feeling of warm days, flip flops, and summer vacation slowly coming. Unfortunately this year I’ll be stuck in summer school, but I love that feeling of finally having free, happy days. I also really like getting wear my favorite dresses (because during the summer I end up wearing Norts everyday) and lilacs blooming in my backyard!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

Ummm, I wouldn’t say so. I mean, I think in spring I really want to make my room light and bright, so I constantly think about redecorating it. And as far as cleaning, I might organize it. But I did actually thoroughly clean my room at school a few weeks ago (I dusted things I had never dusted before!).

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

My spring break arrived about three weeks ago, and it makes me so sad every day that it’s over. But I only have about 4 or 5 weeks until the semester is over. So that makes me happy. I guess the game plan the next few weeks is just to survive!

First Impressions of Cover FX Mattifying Primer

Hey guys!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been really struggling with two problems: oily skin and random pimples popping up on my chin. I’ve changed face washes, quit using BB cream, changed from the Up and Up makeup wipes to the Simple Ones to no avail. They are still there. Then I decided that it could be my primer I’m using (the ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer from Target). I picked this up at the beginning of the school semester, and I’ve been having trouble since about that time. It’d make sense I guess.

Recently I popped into Sephora to FINALLY purchase NARS Deepthroat (yay!). I know it’s been like ten years in the making. Anyway, while I was there, I made sure to scan everything. When one of the makeup artists came up and asked me if I had any questions, I asked her about face primers for oily skin, and she pointed out three of them, and this Cover FX MattifyingPrimer with Anti-Acne Treatment was one. She gave me samples of all three (which will also be here on the blog, this is just the first one I’ve started with).
Sephora
What intrigued me at first about this primer was the “anti-acne treatment” that is right in the title. I mean, with the breaking out, I’d been wanting to try some more spot treatments for my problem areas, and essentially this primer is one big spot treatment. It does have Salicylic Acid in it, which is what is in most acne washes/spot treatments. I’ve never heard of a primer or something having that, so I thought that was pretty darn cool.

Also I was interested in seeing how a primer made especially for oily skin would work. In my experience with primers, they all just seem like the anti-oily skin remedy. And I had never heard of Cover FX (I was thinking along the lines of Smashbox, Tarte, or Benefit for a primer). Another thing I was super excited about is the friendly skin properties of the ingredients. It has Willowbark extract and is without parabens and sulfates and other stuff that skin apparently hates.

I used this primer for a little over a week (those samples sizes go far haha). Here is what I noticed.
  • The smell. It definitely smells and feels like an acne spot treatment. If you hate this smell, you probably won’t like this primer. I don’t mind it, but I definitely notice it.
  • It’s sticky when applying and hard to blend. Once again, I blame the acne treatment for this. But honestly, once it’s on my face it doesn’t feel sticky. It feels cool. And it is hard to blend, but I’d just advise go light in application and then reapply a tiny bit if you need more.
  • Two days after using it, I noticed how glowing my skin looked without makeup on. It looked lovely! No new pimples. The old ones were fading away. And my skin didn’t feel as oily.
  • The staying power with powder was around 4 hours (about normal).
  • My chin was a little oily, but everything else was fantastically matte and not even heavy feeling. This was in weather that reached into the 60s-70s.
  • My skin looked healthy, normal, small pores, no crazy discoloration. Just happy.

Overall I really like it! I haven’t tried the other two samples yet, but this could definitely be something I’d spend $38. I’ve never tried a high-end primer before though, so we’ll see. The price isn’t something that makes me happy (particularly for such a small amount). But if it makes my skin healthy, then I’d be all for it. Especially with the acne treatment.

Do you have a favorite high-end primer? Do you think primers are really necessary?

Here's my review of the Becca Ever-Matte Primer, another sample I picked up!

March Favorites

Hey guys!

I hope you had a great Easter! Mine was definitely a lot of fun! Here are my March favorites! Make sure to comment and tell me what things you are currently loving for spring!

    Marc Jacobs Dot Perfume

I’ve had this since my birthday last September and I’ve loved it, but in March I found myself going to this almost every day. Plus I think the bottle is just the cutest thing ever. According to Sephora’s website, it has notes of red berries, dragonfruit, honeysuckle, jasmine, coconut water, orange blossom, vanilla, driftwood, and musk.

    Lilac Wallflower

I finally broke out my spring Wallflowers, and the first one I went to is Lilac. I love it. While I’d say it’s not as good as the real thing, it’s definitely fresh and pretty smelling.

L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara

In March this was definitely my go-to mascara. I love how long it makes my lashes! It’s easy to take off, doesn’t wear off or flake, and it super black and dramatic.

NARS Orgasm

With March officially bringing in Spring, I’ve been loving Orgasm as my go-to blush because it’s peachy, shimmering, and warm colored. It’s light and pretty and so wearable!

Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Body Wash

I showed this in my Spring Haul post a few weeks ago and have loved it since. It’s sweet and perfume-y smelling. And it’s totally just like Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel. Only without the Christmas packaging.

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Everyone has been raving about this color for spring and I can see why. It’s the perfect mint color (with a cute name) and it wears extremely well. I love it, even though I was hesitant to buy it at first. It’s absolutely perfect for spring.

Organix Macadamia Oil Hair Mask

As you should know from all my monthly lust posts, I’ve wanted the Macadamia Hair Mask. However, I decided to try out this less expensive version first. While I wouldn’t say this is a holy grail product, it does make my hair soft and shiny and it smells really good!
